errr...no brand as such, just figure out what sound you like e.g. Electric/acoustic mandolin, bowlback or flatback (I use a flatback but i also have a bowlback) But all i can say is don't spend under £100 ($200) because to get a nice sound you do need to spend a bit. not long at all. It was fairly easy to figure out. Keeping the tremelo smooth is the hardest part.
