I'm really freaked out by gore and stuff too, but I just saw it and I was pleasantly surprised at how bearable it was. It looked pretty fake.
It's also really funny, in a dark-humor-Tim Burton sort of way. Definitely a must-see!

I think it was just a touch of Tim Burton with the blood accented that red. to add a bit of color since it was quite a dark film, literally.

It all depends on which story you follow since there are so many adaptations of Sweeney Todd. Since it's considered to not even be real (people have argued, going back to a horror story with the same plot from hundreds of years ago in London that may have drawn some info from news articles), every plot that explains anything about her husband will most likely have a different reason for where he is at the time (dead or even still alive).

Chances are that you'll see it and laugh. I hate gory movies and refuse to see more than I've watched (and accidentally found out were full of gruesome attacking blood), yet I sat through Sweeney Todd with no problems. It looks too fake to be frightening, although it wasn't made to look real. As people have mentioned, the bright color is meant to contrast with the drab coloring of the reast of the movie. It's supposed to look artsy rather than real.

And on most occasions of Sweeney murdering his customers, it's setup to be funny. I won't sugarcoat it, though. He stabs 2 people in the throat repeatedly & violently and on several occasions, when he drops people down the chute, you see them land on their heads and hear a quick cracking noise (because their skulls hit the ground first). It can be a little... shocking, for lack of a better word.

its funny when the customers get murdered one after the other. funny... i too am not very good with horrible gory movies..but this was pretty mild and a very good movie!

No, I got this recording from a friend. I think she got it from a Sweeney (the Movie) fansite. The person who posted the file probably got into a very early showing or it was leaked by someone working on the film. It sounds more like the first option is correct, though, judging by the slightly less-than-clear sound quality.

Lol, yeah. I don't care much for the first one, but the reprisal near the end of the movie where Sweeney was stuck in my head for a while. That and the beggarwoman singing, too.

The whole movie is supposed to be a bit arty, in true Tim Burton style... But I know they made the blood from orange paint to remain true to the original stage play. Useless bit of trivia, but I kinda like it
