I like the ... ( 2 weeks ago by sakusia)
I like the underlying message of these olympics. " The games finally came home" Home to what disorganization, air pollution, corrupt politicians, apathetic lazy citizens who care for nothing but themselves. Most Greeks are too proud to admit these games sucked but im not. They really did suck. They were dull, boring and it was a pathetic attempt to impress the world with its stolen history.

1992 Barcelona was better and so was Sydney 2000. These games fell flat.

listen you should not be in a position to give me advice on the olympics. Why don't you go to The Mall or talk on your cellphone, or fix your nails cos that's what the majority of greek women are good at. If your blind with patriotism to see that the Olympic games didn't help Greece in anyway then that's not my fault. Now go listen to Hatziyannis cos your probably more knowledgeable on that subject.
The message of the ... ( 2 weeks ago by sakusia)
The message of the Athens Olympics was crystal clear make the IOC,ATHOC and the sponsors rich and pass the cost to the Greek people. When you start paying 6.00 Euros for a loaf of bread then don't say you were right.

The international ... ( 2 weeks ago by burster14)
The international community agrees that the Athens 2004 Games were a true success. There were NO organization problems. Everything was ready. The Greek people embraced one of their greatest contribution's to humanity return home. The atmosphere was amazingly unique - only Greece could have provided. "Unbelievable, Dream Games" they were called by the IOC president. And the Games rightfully lifted the pride of the Greek people. sakusia is the sole, uninformed jack-ass who's bitching about it.

no you just have your greek patriotism stuck up your ass, like all typical greeks. Whenever somebody criticizes their country they whine like little babies. What do you want the IOC to say that they were " the worse games ever". They say the same thing at every closing ceremony with a variation of words.
I have no ... ( 2 weeks ago by burster14)
I have no connection to Greece; I'm American. But, I was in Athens at the time. So I do know what I'm talking about.
Athens did not get a simple "Well done" like Atlanta did. Atlanta, undeserved or not, does have the perception of not having the magic that cenetenial was suppose to bring to the Games. Athens 2004 did accomplish its goals and is preceived to be succesfull. What your saying is not based on much su
bstance. So it is hard to take you seriously. W/e, carry on being a fool.

The lightning of ... ( 1 week ago by Guigo1507)
The lightning of the flame has such a powerful symbolism... it always give me chills, no matter how great were the opening, the games and how much the country spent on it At this point there's no such thing as "best opening"... it's always great
Enough with the ... ( 1 week ago by YiannisBGoode)
Enough with the political comments, something more important:) They tried to compromise by using Nick Galis as the first bearer of the torch and that's something. I guess he wasn't the last one because he was a professional and not an Olympian? But using Nick in the same relay as drug cheat Patoulidou and silly nobody Melissanidis is just not right. Nick is by far the greatest greek athlete of all times, a huge athletic figure. At least he passed it on to Domazos ¬ Melissanidis, that would...

Oh and guys, it is perhaps not worth it to reply to certain individuals that are here only to feel more important by provoking and are otherwise clearly fuckin stupid. Stupidity is invincible and you are just wasting your time:)

the athens games will always be the best, no matter how many other games have 10x more fireworks or more anything, anthens will still be the best because one thing that they will always have the most of is the passion. greece started the olympics and gave many other ideas and offers to make this world strong...greece forever; greek forever <33

I liked better the torchlighting at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
This one in Athens was symbolic, but I prefer spectacular. SYDNEY was spectacular. 1992 Barcelona was dramatic, and thrilling. But it did not have "magnitude". Wonder how Beijing will light the torch on 08/08/2008 at 8:08pm.
