Regarding the EU: a non-binding resolution about a DU weapons moratorium has been passed, not a ban. Why? As I said below, political agenda. They don't really do much fighting themselves, the US does it for them. The measure panders to their left-wing constituencies while requiring no meaningful cost or risk to the EU. Cheap theatrics.
The average amount of natural uranium in a cubic meter of soil or rock is about 10 grams. Maybe the EU should pass a nonbinding resolution about that, too.

I watched from 13min to 19min (when he talks specifically about DU) and he doesn't make any particularly strong arguments. Firstly, depleted uranium is not, I repeat: NOT spent reactor fuel. It has never seen the inside of a nuclear plant. DU is the stuff left over after U-235 is extracted from natural uranium ore, leaving almost all U-238 (which is weakly radioactive due to 4.5bil year half-life, and the fact that only alpha particles are emitted).
