The R32 and R38 trains were built 3-4 years before the R42s, and they're still running. The R10 cars (built in 1948..over 20 years older than the R42) are the oldest cars I've ridden in revenue service..they were retired in 1989. Graffiti was far far worse 20 years ago than now.

Well only the 1970's and 80's the subway cars had graffitti which we all know. In the summer of 1989 the subway graffitti ended so by 1990 all the subway cars were cleaned.The subway cars that were made in the 1980's were cleaned and not graffited. In 1984 the MTA began their G.O.H to clean lots of subway cars and even rebuilt subway cars a lots of them also.

You are lucky to be on the R10. I never been on the R10 before because I was born in the around 1990's. I like the R10 becase there are a good subway cars. I like the R32,R38,and the R42s. I know when was the the last day of the R10 in service was on Friday September 8,1989 and last train ran in the eveing after 9:00pm. The R10 were replaced by the R68/R68A. I seen lots of photos of R10. I seen lots of photos and read history of all subway cars. I have been on lots of subway cars in NYC.

It's ture about the subway Graffiti before. I know there was New york city subway Graffiti because I saw some photos of it. The subway Graffiti strated in late 1960's. There was New York City Subway Graffiti in the 1970's and 1980's. The subway cars built around 1980's were cleaned in the 1980's. In 1984 the G.O.H began to clean subway cars and also rebuilt them. In the summer of 1989 the NYC subway Graffiti was gone and by 1990 all the subway cars were cleanup and repaited in the mid/late 80's.

i hate the essex-prospect shuttle. ive worked it twice and doing six round trips on a saturday afternoon with tourist is annoying. Atleast it has "S" back then, now they just leave it as the J shuttle which confuses people even more.
