i dont get it... what the hell happened?????????? i understood that he was in love with 2 different woman. pasha and that other girl with the colored sunglasses on. then i get confused. he sees her eyes, pasha finds him covered in snow. and now shes gone. Also, part of the confusion is from the heavy morality emphasis.
Who was the older woman? A lady of questionable morals? Who was he living with? A boarding house where Pasha worked? What shepherd? Why the fire?
And this animation is less clear than his other work. Why?
It's stunning, though. His Rusalka is a work of genius.

Anton is confused about what romantic love is. He's young, and a dreamer. He was taught that desiring someone is adultery. He's uncertain of how sexuality and love can coexist. At the same time, Anton isn't *that* young, and his previous ideals are challenged. He is surrounded by images of sexuality, from the bull among the cows, to Pasha pretending to fend off the shepherd. That incident leads to Anton's angry outburst, the result of his envy and frustration, and a last grasp at childhood.

The fire started when the husband of the zaftig bride took revenge on her and his father, who he believed were having an affair. Anton imagined the brunette next door as a goddess, only to learn that she's imperfect. Her eye might seem like a minor flaw, but people didn't used to be so understanding. She's doomed to a loveless life--just like Pasha, who leaves Anton's family for the cloister. She's chased there by mourning and Anton's behavior. Anton chose an illusion over his "truest" love.
