A Beatles concert from the Cow Palace in San Francisco in August of 1964. This footage was
taken by a local news crew covering the story. There was no audio on the film's sound
track so I substituted audio from the Hollywood Bowl concert from August 23.
(The exception is "Till There Was You" which comes from the Sullivan show of February 9.) Enjoy!

The audio from this clip was removed at the request of the Beatles management. I added the soundtrack from other sources, primarily from the Hollywood Bowl concert.

The Beatles wrote their own music-most pop singers had music published for them.
the Beatles kept writing from their early days untill the broke up in 1970 groups...singers to day dont do that.

Alfrunk - It's like asking "what's so great" about Bethoven or Mozart. Perhaps, maybe once in your life time, something like the Beatles will walk right past you and you won't even notice. Well thank you for that respectful answer. I didn't realize everyone had to agree on everything. I guess i feel the same way defending my music - i just never saw what was so different about the beatles. I like some of their stuff - but don't understand the fanaticism. well i better go deliver pizza now, since we don't agree!

ok, when the beatles broke, rock was basically dead in america, they basically revived american rock and roll...plus they wrote all their own music and did not use studio musicians (till much later)...and their music holds up even today...40 years later...think anyone will remember miley cyrus in 40 years?

And the little girls understand...the world moves to a womens hip...I was 11 years old living in S. S.F.when the Beatles landed at SFO.We went to the airport to welcome the lads. The Beatles continue to live up to the hype.

So I'm home from college in summer '64, age 19.A woman we knew called up practically begging me to drive her and her daughter, turning 16, and girlfriends, over to S.F.(I lived about 20 miles north, in Marin Co.)for this concert.She said "We have a ticket for you, I just want you to do the driving and kind of watch out for the (safety of the)girls".I didn't really care, but they were friends, so I went.I have never seen anything like it.I was amazed to see the crowd reaction.Could barely hear!

To me they're still one of the most creative, fun, amazing, bands, with some of the most creative arrangements, lyrical songs, great harmony, cute looks, bitchen guitars, man what else can I say. That alone puts them up pretty high, but I'm still trying to "garner" whatever "it" is that they had that swept up the whole world, but whatever "it" is, they had it. Marc
