Morse is the reason I gave up going to see Purple in concert. Here's the deal: he is a supremely professional musician, but the man has no heart, no soul. He's prissy and uptight on stage, in his little trailer-park vest, because the guy knows that for more than 10 years he's had the gig because they can't work with Blackmore (or Blackmore doesn't want the gig - whatever excuse it is ). If he spent another 10 years with Purple, Morse will still always be the understudy. That's got to hurt.

Sure, Bernie Marsden looks like he's just climbed out the driving seat of an unlicensed mini cab - pushing aside Big Mac and Mars Bar wrappers. BUT, he played a beautiful blues guitar with vintage Whitesnake, and helped write some of their biggest hits. Yep, he's a fat fuck now, but Bernie is pure British, old-school class. In the days before Whitesnake turned into a botoxed, blow-dried circus, they were the shit! And Bernie is one of the reasons why.

Try running a 'spell-check' facility over your comments, friend. It will add credibility to your arguments. Technically, Morse is an amazing guitarist. I agree. But I don't enjoy his style of playing. I saw Bernie Marsden play many times with Whitesnake and I prefer his sound, his approach, and, also, his songwriting. For me, there's more heart and soul and feel in his playing than there is in Morse's. But, sure, it all comes down to personal opinion and taste.

In case you hadn't noticed, whoever recorded this is pretty much in front of Bernie and will be picking up the sound direct from his amps. What we hear here is not what the crowd in general would have heard. Bernie is a legend. Steve is a technically brilliant guitar but you can see how much he's enjoying the feel and soul of Bernie's playing.
