http://www.videosundry.com - Angela Garbarino was arrested in Shreveport, LA on "suspicion" of driving drunk. She ended up on the police station floor in a pool of her own blood with two black eyes, a broken nose, two broken teeth, and other cuts and bruises.
The cop says she got that way by falling down. He was fired.

You are right that the whole situation probably wouldn't have arisen if the woman had just sat down, although we don't know that for sure. However, here is where we depart reality and logic : "not cooperating with a policeman is quite a serious crime." Uhm, maybe in Iran or North Korea, but not in a free republic. It might very well be worthy a citation, but even if it is, in our system we do not allow cops to be the judge and arbitrary executioner of a sentence ! Ever heard of rule of law?

so a man can just do whatever he pleases when an officer is trying to reason with them, without being charged? e.g. if a police officer were to tell me to stop drinking in a public area, and i continued to do so, ignoring them, that wouldn't be a crime? (i added 'quite' within my last post as i realised it is not a serious 'felony' like joyriding or murder!)

Of course, police officers have the right to issue citations or arrest you. That's what they're here for! A man can not just do what he pleases. Its called rule of law. Are you at all aware of our system of government? Rule of law is NOT rule of men. A cop can arrest you, but they can't just dole out any kind of punishment they see fit. That's up to the judicial branch. Otherwise, we'd have anarchy or what's called a police state. Wether something is a crime or not depends on law. I'm amazed...

well i know a policeman cannot just beat the living shit out of anyone they please, i reiterate that my point was if she had just shut her noise for a bit, then she may not have been beaten. of course it's wrong, but you just have to analyse what would've happened if this or that did or did not happen. but, we could nitpick each others comments for days, but i'm glad we've had some kind of debate...

The bottom line though is that a civilian should not have to be concerned that an officer might handcuff them then beat them because of disorderly conduct. This sort of violent behavior (whether provoked or not) is what gets us the civilians thrown in jail.

Hey morons, her injuries are consistant w/ a person in HANDCUFFS falling on a tile floor. You can't stop your fall when your hands are restrained, so you end up taking it pretty bad. Her injuries are not consistent with falling. Even if she was arrested for DWI the officer doesn't have the right to beat her. He is guilty of a greater crime that the woman.

I've taken a couple of pretty bad drunk falls myself, and yeah, I've woken up the next day with black eyes and cuts on my forehead/cheek bones. Whether or not she was beaten, I don't know, but I can definitely say if you're drunk, and you fall on your face, it can fuck you up pretty bad. Even worse if you can use your hands to stop your fall.

First off folks, I cannot sit here and believe that all that facial damage occurred by 'falling'. I cannot, and will not believe that one iota. No disrespect to the Shreveport Police Dept., but this officer clearly puts himself in the guilty bracket when he either turns off the camera, or covers it with something.
Now, to the folks who want to make this a sexist thing...get a life, go back to school. It is BS. And not all police officers are bad folks.. Like the old saying goes...........

AND, alot of the audio was cut out, due to most likely cursing/swearing. And most likely on her part. I can probably sit here and say that she called him all kind of names. Although, like I have already stated, the damage to her face was not from falling, and the non-taping, is proof that this particular officer is guilty of this assault. Damn shame.
One last thing... I have already stressed on this.. just because of this idiot of an officer did this, does NOT mean that all cops are bad.
