I know it's unethical to diagnose a psychological disorder without seeing a patient but I feel I must--since you judge Chomsky's books without ever having read one I feel the ice is broken. Try and learn to accept when you are wrong. Change your opinions. Ask a psychology professional if you are
suffering from narcissistic personality disorder.

"The US media are alone in that it is, you must meat the condition of concision". I don't see how this is true. All western "democracy's" has advertisement on television, and all channels got shows that are set on a time-limit. How exactly is the US media alone in this? (I'm a huge chomsky fan, don't doubt that, I just need to question everything i hear when I don't think it's right.)

Good question. Chomsky has written (more than once, I believe) that the US media is relatively more free than the British media. By the way, the plural form of "democracy" is "democracies." You must have been chatting with too many Americans.

I can speculate: it could be the lack of popular in-depth topical shows outside of PBS? Maybe other countries are more tolerant of long winded commentators. When my friend came to australia he noticed we have many more commercial breaks on TV and I know the USA have more than OZ.

Just look around youtube at interviews on international news shows! Obviously there are time constraints, but with a just a little more time, discussion can get more nuanced and intelligent. Check out al-Jazeera's interview with Norman Finkelstein, for example.

This nightline guy is so dishonest--first he claims that he doesn't know anything about Chomsky,and implies his exclusion is probably for technical reasons, but then we hear what I think is the true reason--Chomsky's notions about the limits of debate are "absolutely whacko". How ironic.

Yes I agree that some stations are worse and some better. I just don't understand why he choose the words "The US-media is alone..." because it's not, and there are also differences between different media in the US ofcourse. Although I guess he's talking about the "big"-media, but he could have spelled that out a bit clearer maybe.
