The first war crimes trial at Guantanamo Bay has started. Salim Hamdan - who was Osama bin Laden's driver - has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and supporting terrorism. The judge has barred some of the evidence, as it was gained during interrogation of the defendant when he was held at U.S. bases in Afghanistan.

I'm not going to defend Bin Laden, but how can they convict a guy who just drove him around when they haven't even caught, tried and convicted Bin Laden himself? Aren't they making a huge assumption here? Driving someone around isn't a crime. If this driver committed any crimes himself, he should be punished, but simply working for someone suspected of a crime cannot be a crime itself. This may be setting a dangerous precedent. Is everyone who benefits from a criminal a criminal themselves?

After seeing the final sentence, 5 1/2 years, it seems fair since it was said he had weapons in the car. But your comment is not relevant to any trial of an individual. Justice should be concerned with the facts of the case alone, not the actions of a group of unrelated people. I don't see how you can judge millions of people from what you saw on your trip. You also cannot project their actions on any one individual. I hope if you are ever on a jury that you remember to be objective and fair.

Remember, CIA doesn't waste sources and money just to imprison " Suspected prisoners". Almost all the prisoners have real TERRORISM connection and acts, in their passed hystory.
If this method can give to USA Intelligence the possibilty to reach faster and better information, maybe regard a future terroristic attack against civilians, than I trust it is absolutly right. You don't know how many attacks have been discovered with Guantanamo's information.
