Ms. Troyanos was one of the most versatile and talented artists on the opera and concert stage. We lost her all too early....thank goodness for the technology that allows us to continue to enjoy her exquisite performances.

Traducci ón al español:
Tu mano, Belinda;
me envuelven las sombras.
Déjame descansar en tu pecho.
Cuánto más no quisiera,
pero me invade la muerte;
la muerte es ahora una visita bien recibida.
Cuando yazga en tierra, mis
equivocaciones no deberán crearle
problemas a tu pecho; recuérdame,
pero, ¡ay !, olvida mi destino.

it is true that her intonation isnt totally correct. However, it may be a personal choice to engage the listener more and show originality. Not many singers who sing this lament completely stick to the score. The true beauty lies in the melody.

Most magnificant!! Truly a Lament I attest to!
What I don't ...( 6 months ago by CriticalListener)
What I don't believe Suman1990 realizes is that scholarly differences exist as to editions of this score. Back in the late 1970's, when this was made, it was then the "new" practice of singing both the natural and the flatted pitch of a note within the same measure. If one reads the usual version of this aria, the different accidental is not there, so it looks/sounds "wrong".

She is the BEST!!! She really understands the song from within, does not have recourse to cheap tricks and does not make it more pathetic than it should be (like Norman). I am in love with this version of the song.

Her technique is mighty 19th century for this 17th century aria, but her musicality and her total involvement in the text (as always) make this an adorable version of the aria. Thanks for posting!
