Everytime I hear Al Jarreau, I think of Don "No Soul" Simmons, don't you? Yes, Al is a pro & Don is a joke, but Al reminds me of a white Yankee (he's from Milwaukee) with very little soul & too much enunciation, just like Don "No Soul" Simmons. If you've made this connection prior to reading this or even afterward, let me know. No offense to Jarreau fans (he tried to drop his first name for a short time, BTW), as Al is a real talent indeed, but with very little R&B soul for a jazz singer.
