I highly disagree smalltalknr1 - I have been raving (my favorite parties are psytrance, IDM, hardcore, glitchy and ambient ones) for almost 7 years now, and I go sober. I dance all night long. I know other people like this too. The music is good enough on its own without drugs. The energy of the parties are amazing, you can reach that trance state with or without the drugs. All in all, people are more sober by far at psytrance parties than they are at bars.

I don't mind people doing whatever they want to do when it comes to drugs as long as it doesn't harm me, which is why I go to raves and not bars. Plus that I looove trippy psy. This is stuff you can appreciate when you're sober. I say this as I just came back from Eclipse Festival, where I met many other sober psychaholics like myself. So, to put that statement out there that nobody trances sober is almost offensive to me, even though I'm sure you didn't mean it as an insult.

I don't know maybe because I'm a fire-dancer who only eats high energy vegan food and is active on a regular basis, plus that I'm obsessed with music, I find it very easy to dance all night and into the morning without any drugs. Even when I'm tired the music makes me go harder. It's perfect for anyone who wants to get in shape too, mentally and physically. Be prepared to be tired and sore for a couple days after! It's so easy to go go go when you have no toxins in your body to weigh u down!

I'd be very interested to :) I *have* done small ammounts of acid, just it was a mental growth experience for me, and not for the party. I probably have maybe one more time to do it in my life, in about 20 years or so if I want to reenervate the learning cycle in my brain... but I really like dancing sober and I realise that that's more sustainable than doing substances every time you party... you relate the drugs to the party and then stop going dancing when you get out of the drugs. not me!

everyone's different tho. Alls I'm sayin is that you can love music and dance to it with or without drugs and it kind of makes me sad when people just *assume* I'm on drugs because I dance. It's a limiting stigma that prevents our culture from making big changes in society, I think.

psychedelic drugs, done to psy - trance, in a psychedelic environment with lots of uv visual stimulants... these are the key elements to a real psychedelic experience - if one of these is absent, the experience is incomplete... true u can reach a trance state trough dance, meditation, pain/starvation etc... but why, when psychedelics are sooo much more effective... and the music and environs are designed for trippin!

Unimaginative 4/4 rubbish. I have no idea how Psytrance gains it's popularity but each to their own. This video is dull and the presenter has one of the most monotonous voices I have ever heard!

You're an idiot. All experiences can be altered by drugs, the same as they can be altered by depriving sleep, dehydration, starvation etc. A common and destructive misconception about electronic music is the need for drugs. In the case of Psytrance, it's needed to mask the simplistic beats.

I wrote this in a bad mood. In short, psy-trance is not for me and I genuinely don't get the hype. Every genre will have it's lovers and haters. Another way to look at it - more room for you lovers to dance!
