no he just did it for fun but i believe kevin and jesse lacey (lead singer of brand new) are friends. also jesse performed guest vocals on one of kevins songs from his cd Split The Country, Split The Streets. the song was Cotton Crush

He was opening for Brand New at the Webster Theatre, and people were being jerks and not being quiet for him so he started playing Brand New to shut them up.

a note to everyone who attends any concert ever: SHUT THE FUCK UP DURING THE OPENING ACT. talking during a performance is one of the most horribly disrespectful thing you can do to a person. especially when the act is as amazing as kd

just saw Kevin last night..there were [sadly] about 20 people at the show, probably due to the -40 wisconsin temperatures. it was completely personal. me & my friends talked w/ him throughout the entire show, and he played a ton of songs from every CD he has put out. he's such a good guy..and he played his heart out. i didn't think his voice could sound any better than the album, but he he took it to a whole new level live. he ended with ballgame... can't wait to see him again.
