The Marvelettes gave Motown its first number one single on the Billboard charts, "Please Mr. Postman." The group had two lead singers (Gladys Horton and Wanda Rogers) and a raft of writers and producers from beginning to end. Whether it's the early raucous 60s (Gladys) or the more polished mid-decade material (Wanda, with Smokey Robinson writing and producing), the Marvelettes had a charm that continues to earn them devoted new fans throughout the world.
