When KYM (Anne Hathaway) returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister RACHEL (Rosemarie Dewitt), she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict along with her. The wedding party's abundant cast of friends and relations have gathered for an idyllic weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym
—with her black-comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama—is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic. Filled with the rich and eclectic characters that have always been a hallmark of Jonathan Demme's films, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED paints a strikingly perceptive and some
times hilarious family portrait. Director Demme, first-time writer Jenny Lumet, and the stellar acting ensemble leaven the drama of these difficult but compelling people with wry affection and generosity of spirit.

The song is Everyday by Rogue Wave. you can find it by searching youtube (it was on the Stubbs the Zombie Soundtrack)

Hmm this is interesting career move for dear Annie here.
Anyways I just read that a Neil Young song is going to be played in a particular scene. But which song is not mentioned. Another cool thing is: today's their birthday (including Grace Kelly and duh... Charles Manson). Not my birthday though (it's 12 July) but knowin that both my musical hero and
my fav hottie sharin the same b-date... that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling tho
Yet another victim ... ( 6 days ago by Blanckfrack)
Yet another victim of the HAND HELD CAMERA fad that has killed off so many good films...and sickened as many audiences. My local theater has been handing out passes all week to audiences walking out 15 minutes after the film starts. This is a bullshit, money-saving stunt masquerading as ART. Boooo!

veggie- Was your cousin responsible for the HAND HELD, vomit-vision camera work?
The handheld camera ... ( 6 days ago by ManillaGorilla90)
The handheld camera in this isn't even that bad at all. It's not like Blair witch, Cloverfield, or Quarantine (Rec.) where it constantly circles around to different places and dizzies the audience. It's very focused and you're greatly exaggerating Blanckfrack. This film is great and at the end of it at my theatre everyone clapped. A+ performances for all the actors/actresses here, especially Anne Hathaway and Bill Irwin. Both are in need of a nomination (Best actress, supporting actor)
Manilla- This whole ... ( 4 days ago by virginiabeachgril)
Manilla- This whole hand-held camera thing has gotten way overused. We are, I suppose, to believe that this movie is like a video journal of the wedding. The "you are there" premise. The problem is, how many wedding cameras follow you into the bathroom to watch you pee? How far do we take this premise? What good are great performances if your audiences are puking in the aisles? The question for me and my friends (we walked out too) is is this ART? Or is this a cheap, money saving process?
The only good ... ( 4 days ago by skumringbegravelse)
The only good handheld I'ver ever seen was Requiem, but that was at least sparingly. Still, I'm psyched for this movie.
skrum-HAND-HELD ... ( 4 days ago by virginiabeachgril)
skrum-HAND-HELD CAMERA movies are quickly wearing out their welcome. It is precisely because this story and performances were so compelling that I was particularly frustrated by this camera work. Even more bizarre about this fad is that the camera operator seems compelled to MOVE the damn thing around for movement sake. I don't know anyone who can't hold a camera steady enough to at least mimic the steadiness of a tripod. This guy seemed to be suffering from epilepsy. What a distraction!
Couldn't agree more ... ( 3 days ago by oilthatgate)
Couldn't agree more. What's wrong with a tripod and dolly? Shame. I won't be seeing this.

I usually hate the hand held camera. Its generally horrible and very cheap of the filmmakers. In this film, it's clearly not "cheap," but artistically adds to the film.
maxbfrex- HAND-HELD ... ( 2 days ago by OragonDarrryl)
maxbfrex- HAND-HELD CAMERA work is not "art". It's a budget gimmick that asks the audience to do the hard work the director was not willing to do. I'm old enough to remember when the ZOOM-LENS was invented. My god, every chance they got, they'd zoom in and out. Today, it's a visual cliche. You just don't use it anymore. What's really tragic is that THIS was a good story with some great acting. More troubling is that the camera man was actually working at shaking the camera. Just plain weird!

I personally liked this movie. Everything looked so real, the actors and characters were amazing. The hand-held camera did bother me at on point. But overall it was a good movie. Made me tear up a bit.

Ugh! HAND-HELD camera work! How many good films do they need to ruin? I will never go see a movie again until I'M SURE they didn't pull this stunt.
I don't know why ... ( 1 day ago by VayaZ)
I don't know why people are so bothered by the hand held camera thing. I think it can really work in some cases, if it's done well. There's several examples of that in European cinema. I guess it just has to do with personal preference and what you're used to. I'm looking forward to seeing this.
VayaZ- I'll tell ... ( 1 day ago by Blanckfrack)
VayaZ- I'll tell you what. We'll go to a NORMAL movie together and you'll sit in the chair in front of me. Then, while the movie is playing, I'll grab your head and shake it violently. That way BOTH of us can enjoy the movie.
Now THAT would ... ( 1 day ago by VayaZ)
Now THAT would bother me. Hand held camera, not so much. :) A movie filmed with a HHC will never be as visually beautiful as a movie shot in the "normal" way, but IMO it can work and even benefit the movie in some cases. Can't say anything about this movie though, since I haven't seen it yet.

VayaZ- Make sure you don't eat anything before you see this movie. Unless, of course, you actually enjoy vomiting.
