The thing that gets me are the "fans" of g1 Transformers who look at this film as if it were a work of blasphemy. I mean, do any of these people realize that the original cartoon was nothing more than a half-hour animated toy commercial hawking products that had been produced years before the show debuted? Really, we're not talking Byron, people, geez - it's an '80 merchandising gimmick! You may have fond memories of it, but remember that those feelings are not universal.

Seriously, this was hilarious. I loved the movie, and the commentary was great! Love the little impression of the Bob the Builder characters. I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. Those cops should have seen Frenzy! Even my own mother picked up on that one!

Yeah that gets me too. They act as if the movie destroyed all that came before. It's just another alternate history in a franchise with over a dozen different timelines. G1 is still there. Anybody can go back to it at anytime via DVDs and trade paperbacks. G1 still happened. Nothing Micheal Bay can do will EVER take that away from anyone.
Micheal Bay did NOT rape anyones childhood. Its still there. safe and sound. Its okay to prefer G1, but dont be a fucking loon about it.

You ARE correct. The original G1 carton WAS a commercial. My memories will always be fond but you are also right in that it was far from flawless. It was loaded to the gills with animation flaws and continuity errors.
G1 was nice, but it wasn't Masterpiece Theatre by any stretch. And truth be told a conversion of G1 style robots on the screen might look too simplistic. At least the movie wa reasonably close to their CHARACTERS. So RELAX already fans, you have lost absolutely NOTHING.

So a sentient living robot is totally realistic and Cops who are understandably busy focusing on the presumed terrorist attack overlook a figure walking in the shadows is where suspension of disbelief is where things break down?
It's a fucking movie about living alien machines. We're ALREADY up to our ears in some pretty unlikely shit by now. Are you sure you aren't just looking for excuses to complain, brecause that's some pretty pointless minutae to get your panties in a bunch over.
