woops. my bad. i hadnt watched the whole video and carol reed is the only british director who worked with welles that I'm aware of.

The gigantic shadow that turns out to be a man selling balloons in the Third Man, I believe, was stolen later to be a visual signature of Welles. Alfred Hitchcock had his signature profile and so must Welles have his. I say stolen but, in fact, it may have been Welles idea to begin with.
