Clinton left the Whitehouse with a huge surplus. Bush has been in office 7 1/2 years (whith a GOP congress to rubber stamp his spending for 6 of them) and has a huge deficit, which doesn't even include war spending (who knows why).
If Bush can somehow in the next 6 months get a bigger surplus than Bill had, then we'll talk. Right now I say the Dems are far superior fiscally.

I'm sure that is the case. By the time he ran for the Senate, the war was unpopular. Howevr, he has STRONGLY IMPLIED that he VOTED against the war, which is clearly not possible.
While it can never be proven, if he had been in the Senate, he would have voted with Hillary & Bidden for the war. He's that kind of guy.
BTW, I have always been 100% against the Iraq war & Korea & Viet Nam. I would bring ALL of our troops home and not just the Mid East. Afghanistan would be the only exception.

How has he strongly implied that he voted against the war? The phrase he normally uses is "I opposed the war." I get that from that phrase, some people will think that he voted against it, but that's not the same as him purposefully implying it.
Maybe he would have voted for the war. Hillary and Biden are dedicated public servants, and they still did it, so good people either felt like they had to or were misled into believing that it was a good idea.

Democrats have enough problems with being seen as weak--if Obama had been proved wrong,it could have killed his career. I highly doubt he could ever have become a Senator and he certainly wouldn't be a presidential candidate.
Also: he didn't simply oppose the war; he gave reasons, and his reasons all proved true. I think he looked at the facts and knew we could not win.

I am tired of defending the world with our children's lives (Korea & Viet Nam) and my tax dollars. I don't want my sons dying in some foreign land fighting someone else's war.
