I have to agree with Itsthetruckie, we all know Enya has a great voice. But this girl truely has a good voice. She first caught my attention on Celtic Woman, on such numbers as "Scarborough Fair" and "Lascia Ch ´io Piango". She has great potential.

Enya almost never sings live, TrashCanMan. For this reason I have a problem thinking about her as a singer at all. She is a studio recording artist - and viewed as such is as good as there is....Apart from adding studio effects to her voice, if Enya screws it up she can always simply record it again. Hayley gets no second chances here.

I think actually the fact tha Hayley Westenra performs live makes her superior to Enya. Enya's version is beautiful, sure, but it's almost a little too perfect. It's recorded carefully, just like everything in LOTR, but it's not alive the same way as Hayley's version is when she sings it live. Yeah, sure, there may more minor imperfections, small things they might've wanted to correct if they did a recording with her, but that's what makes her performance so alive and magical.

Yes she did. She has done about a dozen live performances in a 20 year career. Hayley did that last month.
I would actually suggest that everyone check out that live performance of this Enya gave (I mentioned it myself far below). You can tell its Enya. That is about as far as I will go

Ok, I just listened to Enya's live performance a couple of times, and I've got to say that Enya is not anywhere near as good live as she is recorded. You can tell Hayley feels at home on stage, and she performs her best there. Either Enya suffers from serious stage fright or her voice is altered when recorded, because live she's sort of hoarse and shaky (and I'm perfectly able to tell the difference between a shaky voice and vibrato). So sorry, but I still think Hayley is better than Enya.

Enya uses a technique called vocal layering. In way it doesnt actually change her voice in the sense that some artists would - but stacking her voice as they do adds depth and stability.
Ironically, as I have said several times, I consider Enya a fine studio performer and I have several of her albums. She is just out of her league in comparison with something like this
