Looks like Greg Rollie had already left the band to form Journey. The one time I got to see Carlos was in 1969 in Fresno when I thought he was a local band because he came there often.The opener was Black Ghost, then Snail (the Oneill brothers band out of Santa Cruz, yes that Oneill brothers where all the surfing T-shirts come from) and finally Santana.Just a few weeks before they had been know as The Santana Blues Band, and on the advice of Paul Butterfield, they dropped blues from their name.

Is it just my imagination or does this somehow sound like Riders on the Storm by The Doors? Not sure why - maybe the extended 1970s sounding keyboard solos? Don't get me wrong - I like both Santana and Jim Morrison, fantastically talented each.
