Hmmmmm... really? And yet virtually all of his former players, when asked about Coach Knight, have nothing but respect for the man. Well at least all those players who weren't such pussies that they didn't crumble and start crying when it came to getting yelled at a time or two. What a joke, in fact I am rather surprised that someone with the username "marinesrock" is complaining about a basketball coach who yells a lot. Ha!

Us Marines have class and we don't humiliate people the way this man has. You can be a warrior with dignity. Read my post a least three times before you deviate my claim to something I did not say, we all get yelled at in life that has to do nothing with the way we go about it. Kicking and cursing and bulling people is not coaching basketball, does your logic include strangling players too?

Born and raised an IU fan and i know how you feel. I disliked Syracuse for a long time after this game even though we one. I was only 6 at the time but i used to watch this game everyday. It took me a long time to not dislike the orange but i was very happy for Coach Boeheim when he got his championship. That is one coach who really deserved it!

RMK is old school, I guess you have grown up thinking that negative reinforcement is evil. Get some perspective, you are saying that the marines NEVER were abusive to their recruits and it is just laughable as a comparison. Oh and RMK has 4 championship banners, and 2 gold medals compared that to the Bennett's humility.

Best move NCAA ever did was have the losing team leave the floor. Let me tell you the last thing I would want is watch the winning team celebrate right in front of me after a championship game. NCAA was stupid for having them stay. Then the cameras get shoved in their face knowing they feel like shit.

I agree. If I had the choice I'd rather lose in the semi-final than be national runner up. It would really suck losing a title game. Louisville is 2-0 in them though so I've never experienced it.

Yes, but that was the last year they did it. That all changed in 1988. Which was very smart. The reason they did it they gave the trophies at same time. But after '87 they had separate ceremony for runner up. All Final Four Teams get a trophy like the champions. But 2nd place is silver and the semifinal losers, bronze. And same goes for the rings. Every player at Final Four gets a ring.

Thank you so much for uploading this. This was the very first NCAA Championship Game I saw as a kid, and what a great game it was. This brings back very sweet memories. I love the song, too.

Wow - so happy I found this! I still find myself holding my breath as "The Shot" is released. And avid IU fan that I am (GO HOOSIERS!), watching the Syracuse players in their misery on the bench makes me want to cry.

Your full of shit purdue won a national championship with John Wooden in 1932. Purdue leads the overall series versus IU 107-84 and it looks like that number will just grow and grow because IU wont crack the top half of the big ten race in the next 5 years. Check out the Boilers in the preseason polls!
