Four Tibetan independence activists, including one Tibetan-American, were detained by Chinese authorities today after demonstrating at Mount Everest's main base camp in Tibet, unfurling a banner reading "One World, One Dream, Free Tibet 2008" in English, and "Free Tibet" written in Tibetan and Chinese.

I realize that some people in this world are too stubbornly ignorant to listen to any reason. The activist who wrote the article is not "biased" in the stupid sense you mean; clearly he has travelled, done his reasearch and come to his own conclusions. If you'd rather stay comfortable the way you are, by all means do so. I intend to fight human rights abuses as best as I can.

China had been one of the last countries that practiced slavery! Selling of young girls to rich families as servants or even to doll house as prostitutes!

IMHO this was a courageous and dignified protest. I am deeply saddened by the name-calling and vicious racism i have read here. Buddhism is about compassion and non-violence. Tibet may have shadows in its history but what country does not? Evolution requires growth/expansion, not domination/control. I personally wish China would leave Tibet and let HHDL come home again.
