This is a sample of my Hurricane Wilma storm chase video. The footage was taken during the peak of the storm on the Southwest Florida coast in Belle Meade, near Marco Island. Peak winds occur after the lull, associated with the passage of the storm's eye, and are near 100mph with gusts to 120mph.

And had she blew through Marco Island at that point the entire island would have been gone within hours...I am a native Floridian...lived on Marco for 3.5 yrs...been going there since 1976. Let me tell you...no freaking way the island with all of its building and only being 7 miles would last a Cat 5. It would look a million times worse than what Charley did to Sanibel and the restructuring of it.

Yep, that's how it was. Our power was out for 12 hours and I stood on my lanai and watched the transformers pop and my grapefruit tree was uprooted six feet from me. I think it was only a Cat 2 by the time it crossed South Fla, but I hope never to experience such a thing again.

wow its been 3 years since this hurricane i remember we were all eating at 3am then the power went out.and me and my aunt looked outside the window and there was this red lighing very scary

great video!! I evacuated from Katrina, then evacuated from Rita... wound up in Cape Coral & REFUSED to evacuate again for Wilma. Its wasnt a lot where we were just some trees in the pool. 2005... I'll never forget it. I hope Fay gives Louisiana a little excitement since Im home again :)

i remember this one. I live in Hollywood, FL.
and it was scary as hell.
Thank God we had a new roof installed a few months before this beast hit us. My girlfriend, who is from Trinidad had never been thru a hurricane before, and she was scared. I just held her for 6 hours until it passed. We walked outside about 2 PM once the sky cleared and saw the damage to our neighborhood. I have pictures of her standing on an uprooted tree 8 feet off the ground. But what can u do, except fool around?!

a tornado from wilma shattered a whole side of my building and it was windy inside while the walls were caving in the hallways and 3 guys tried to hold it up, we were on the 21st floor and terrified!

I in fl. for wilma because that is wear I live (I was here for jeanne also) and I was scared and excited at the same time- I've been through about 5 severe hurricanes here in fl and oddly enough I'm not scared one bit of them-- But I'm terrified of tornados one (small one) came through our front yard and knocked down my 3 fav. oaks and now I was really mad

Haha. I remember this. It was SO exciting. It was really bad though. I had no electricity for two weeks. Right now, as we speak, I am getting the outer bands of tropical storm/hurricane ray. I live in Miami.
