Totally agree with you klarmer, Clapton is out of order treating Jack Bruce with the obvious contempt that he does. He would not have lasted two minutes with that attitude with some bass players in Scotland. Jack's Ma obviously didnt teach him how to defend himself.

it is a wah wah pedal - if you get hold of a copy of the 1968 farewell concernt on dvd there is a section where clapton explainsh how to use it - the footage at the start of the clip is circa 1987 from the South Bank Show but the main clip is from the farwell concert recorded by the BBC for their Arena Program hence the poor camera work but come on guys at least it was in colour!
